Using performing arts, we need to facilitate personal growth, explore and transcend unhealthy personal patterns of behavior and interpersonal interaction, promote mental health (e.g: hospitals, schools, mental health centres, prisons, businesses, rehabilitation centres ,…),….

Drama therapy is active and experiential. This approach can provide the context for participants to tell their stories, set goals and solve problems, express feelings, or achieve catharsis. Through drama, the depth and breadth of inner experience can be actively explored and interpersonal relationship skills can be enhanced. Participants can expand their repertoire of dramatic roles to find that their own life roles have been strengthened. Participants may see dramatherapy affect changes in their behavior, emotional state, personal growth, and skill adaptation. Participants utilizing drama therapy are often able to improve their interpersonal relationship skills.

GCT organizes learning sessions that provide different skills in performing arts to artists, children, arts teachers, prospective artists and others.

- We work with different schools, centres and other beneficiaries providing trainings to foster creativity through performance & stagecraft, enhancing critical thinking and active speaking. We establish working drama clubs and empower the existing ones. It through this program the GCT engage girls and children to be active in performing arts.
- We provide a significant training ground for students in dramatic arts.
- We provide multiple opportunities for member schools to view each other’s dramatic work. Our aims are to sharpen and develop students skills in oral language and all expressive mechanisms, developing the intellectual skills (cognitive base, affective base and creative base) and we strongly encourage group-level cooperation, acculturation, school community relations and develop recreational outlets for the future.
WHY ARTS INTEGRATION?
- Arts integration uses teaching practices that have been shown in brain-based research to improve comprehension and long-term retention.
- Arts integrated learning is a way to teach artistic skills in conjunction with academic material. This approach to education values the process and experiential learning as much as creation of art object or performance oriented learning.

This is a program whereby GCT reaches its targeted populace (community) to empower those communities listening to their concerns and encouraging them to voice and solve their own problem accordingly. We sensitize communities to government programs and share life experiences with them through community theatre, theatre for development and other various entertainments creating a good societal environment with effective social communication.

Zeigen is a Dutch word meaning “show”
This program covers performing in front of no-specific audience like organizing live performance, tours, competitions…through all the mediums. GCT may run a show on invite from other parties, self-exhibitions, festivals…or it may be a showcasing new talents event organized. All events and shows are run under this program.

WHY IS THEATRE NEEDED?
- Theatre influences the way we think and feel about our own lives and encourages us to take a hard look at ourselves, our values, and our behavior.
- Theatre as an industry contributes to our economy and plays a special role in the revitalization of neglected neighborhoods.
- Both the making of theatre and attending of theatre contribute to education and literacy.
- Theatre models for us a kind of public discourse that lies at the heart of democratic life, and builds our skills for listening to different sides of a conversation or argument, and empathizing with the struggles of our fellow human beings whatever their views may be.
- Theatre brings people together.
- Theatre is a sophisticated expression of a basic human need.
- Theatre does no harm.
HOW POETRY CAN CHANGE LIVES
- It changes the way we look at and listen to the world.
- It reveals the areas of our own experience
- It opens us up to wonder and the sometimes astonishing possibilities of language.
- It is a discipline for re-engaging with a world we take too much for granted.
- It endows with the ability to speak forth ideas and, by extension, more concrete realities into existence.
- Poetry is a literary work in verse writing of high quality, great beauty, a piece of art, with emotional sincerity or intensity, a graceful expression showing imagination and deep feeling with beautiful and elegant quality.
- It is through the art of poetry that the universal facts are represented.
- Poetry teaches us the lessons about how to live life providing the meaning of life.
- Poetry is more philosophical than prose because it is nearer to our immediate experience.
- Poetry plays the recovery of sensuous and imaginative freedom, at the expense of disrupting our useful habits of thought.
- The function of poetry is to repair to the material of experience, seizing hold of the reality of sensation and fancy beneath the surface of conventional ideas, and then out of that living but indefinite material to build new structures, richer, finer, fitter to the primary tendencies of our nature, truer to the ultimate possibilities of the soul. Our descent into the elements of our being is then justified by our subsequent freer ascent toward its goal; we revert to sense only to find food for reason; we destroy conventions only to construct ideals.
THE IMPORTANCE OF POETRY IN EDUCATION
- Poetry can increase students’ literacy and linguistic awareness.
- Students who study poetry in the classroom increase their skills of critical analysis.
- Students can become very enthusiastic about poetry in the classroom, connecting their reading experiences to their experiences of music and their own lives.
- Poetry in the classroom helps students to connect to others.
WHY GALAXY CULTURAL TROUPE?
- Citizens need to practice government policies, yet performing arts is the best tool for effective message transmission.
- Rwandans need to maintain their culture and its values as the foundation of sustainable development, yet performing arts remains a key pillar for transmitting the country’s culture and traditions to present and future generations.
- Rwandan youth must have a significant role in the well-being of their native country. They must get a very practical and skills based education through participatory drama approaches and developing one’s inner talents. We seek to helping people find out their abilities and motivations.
- Artistic education in schools and the community need to be valued and sensitized enough as it is the best tool to deliver and transmit knowledge, reinforce humanity and cultural values amongst Rwandan youth.
